the music on my ipod have different volumes and the only thing that makes me think why is that they all have different bit rates. i have some mp3 with 256 and other acc with 128 and the 256 just sound louder.... is that why? is acc really better than mp3? is .flac better for storage since is lossless?

Does some kind of expert exists on these matters? i would really like to know

The volume is not affected by the bit rate, that can be changed on itunes

select a song or group of songs then right click and select "get info" then go to the options tab and adjust the volume slider to your preference.

For the file types .flac is the best in terms of quality as long as the source was of very high quality (like direct off a CD). The bit rate is very high sometimes 1000kbps+ this will make the file sizes larger but all the sounds will be there and the sounds will be as nearly if not as good as the original CD.

Just remember that once the data rate is reduced (like from 768kbps to 128bkps as an example) increasing it will not improve the quality again as the damage to the quality is done

For mp3 and AAC its preference as in reality there is not too much difference between the two but mp3 is more compatible

Personally if you have the memory space i would chose a lossless file type like m4a or flac as the sound quality is far better, its hard to notice on headphones however so mp3 at 320kbps is good enough but if you have a decent sound system lossless would be better

WAV is uncompressed. Flac is compressed. that's extra advantageous? the two have regularly an identical high quality, yet Flac could properly be smaller in report length on an identical time because it keeps an identical audio high quality. in case you do no longer care approximately report length, then WAV is a thank you to bypass. in case you do care approximately report length and desire good high quality, then Flac is a thank you to bypass.

.flac takes up alot more memory than an mp3. but the sound quality of .flac is better than mp3. It also depends on how well the mp3 was converted.

it can be.. but it also depends how it was set when recording. you can get an MP3 editor and just up the volume setting directly on the mp3.
