is it possible to delete a song or video from my zune library, but still have it on my zune when it syncs?

like say if i deleted a song on the zune program on my computer, then sync my zune....is there any way i can keep the song on my zune itself, but not have it in the library on my computer?

sorry if that was confusing i dunno how to explain it....

I think I know what your getting at. I've had the same problem.

1. Sync the software from library to Zune.

2. Disconnect Zune and delete software from computer.

3. Turn off automatic sync feature on Zune program.

4. When you reconnect your Zune, said software will be on the device and not on the computer.

5. You'll have to manually select songs you want to sync from now on, or keep deleting the software in question from your computer if you don't disable the automatic sync program.

Hope this helps. Zune can be a tricky appliance.

Another way is to manually take the song out of the sync list while its syncing. I think I had problems with that. I could be wrong though. Try this out first. The less complicated the better.

In my experience it is not possible to do that no matter how many times you tell Zune to let you choose your own music. I tested it again before I typed this and it took the deleted song off of the device. It will work for videos for some reason but not pictures and songs. Others may have a different experience.

Test it with one song. Set Zune up to let you choose your own music. Back up that song to another folder that Zune doesn't monitor then delete that song from the folder that Zune does monitor and see what happens. If it deletes it then put the song back in the monitored folder.

If you are running out of space on your hard drive, I would delete unneeded programs instead or add an external hard drive. That is what I did since my videos were eating up so much space on my hard drive.

yes i its possible, i had the same problem the only way to do it is to disconnect your zune, then start the sofware and go to settings>Device and click "forget this device". delete the songs you want from your system and if there are any sync groups for those songs, delete them as well. then connect your zune! dont sign in! as long as you sign in as guest, the software wont delete songs off your zune!

i dont think so because the content [video, music, pictures] that are stored on your zune come from your library.

so if you delete music from your library, the music that came from the library to sync into your zune will be gone.

well im not sure, i had the same question about it like you and i tried it and it just wont work.

Only if you don't delete the file using the zune software

I think so, because I did that...the songs won't get off your Zune unless you go into the program and take them out.
