What music app are you using? Many apps that have files can share these files with a computer [iTunes]. To do this, connect your iPod to iTunes and select your device via the sidebar. while looking at the "overview" of your device you should be able to scroll down to a section dubbed "file sharing." You should be able to select the particular app from a list of apps capable of using the "file sharing" function. Upon selecting the app, a list of all transferable files will pop up, allowing you to store these on your computer.

Well for me, I had gotten a new phone and when I fe downloaded my music app onto my new iPhone none of my music was still there....so I think you might lose all your music like I just did :(

The app will NOT back it up. It's best if you pass all your songs into a computer and when you are done, transfer it all to your phone.
