how do you change videos downloaded to mp4 format?

I just need a free program that will easily convert any or all videos into mp4 format so i can download it onto my Ipod

not a problem. What I did was went to www.download.com they have lots of different programs and things u can try out. It is only a trial but i used the m2converter. Better yet, go to www.m2convert.com and download that program. It worked for me now remember it is a trial so if you really want it you will have to buy it. The trial lasts for about 15 days, however I'll find a way to just keep redownloading it and using it. You can still use www.download.com and type in video file converter and they will have other programs come up however when they do convert it they will leave their watermarks, the name of their company all in the middle of the screen so you'll have to try different ones but m2convert works for me for the 15 days that i can use it.

try seaching for Virtual dub to do the re-encoding, but you might need a mp4 codec - I'm trying to think where I have seen on. Hmm, just search for an mp4 codec, one will turn up.
