I have 2 ipods... one old and one new ... & also 2 computers, one new one old. I use the new computer w/ my new ipod. The thing is , my old computer has alot of viruses on it, but has a lot of good music.. I just would like to transfer those songs on my old ipod, but I will have to use the same USB cable for both ipods.

Long story short; can the actually usb cord for the ipod catch a virus? stupid question, but I don't want to plug it in to an infected computer and then use it on a new one because I'm unsure if it will get a virus.

The usb cord is made to transfer the information from the ipod to the computer and computer to the ipod. A usb cord can not hold any information. Your ipod can catch a virus though, most likely the viruses on your computer were not made to sync to an ipod. It would have to be a virus specially made to attack your ipod, but this is rare, unless you got the viruses from downloading music from limewire or any other source for free music.

The USB cord can't but the iPod itself can. Some viruses are written to sync itself to iPods and other MP3 players to spread itself around.

no.. silly ;)

you could also burn them to cd/dvd and then copy them over..

or share the music folder over your home network.... and copy them over.
