Question:
Can you recommend a good ipod for a child?

My daughter, age 7, wants an ipod for Christmas. What would be a good model for her that's not too expensive. She wouldn't have a large number of songs so it doesn't need to have a huge memory.
I don't really know much about them. What's the difference between an ipod and an ipod shuffle? Do we need to buy a lot of accessories to go with it like a charger or a speaker, or can we manage without these? What's a good model to buy?

For a 7 year old, i would get the iPod Shuffle.

the difference between a nano and a shuffle is..

ipod nano:

screen.

bigger memory

more features.

cost between $149-$199 (USA)

ipod shuffle:

no screen.

smaller memory

small size

only feature is that it plays music

cost $49-$69 (USA)

you don't need to buy a charger for it. it comes with a usb/firewire cable. you just plug it into the computer, and it charges. it comes with earbuds as well.

speakers, not necessary, but if you want to, you can find them between $30-$400.

Hey, I thought I could help you out, so here:

Well first off, how much money are you willing to spend?

The least expensive is obviously the ipod shuffle, but it has no screen and would really be a disappointment. An ipod has a screen so you can see the menu and stuff but a shuffle is basically just the scroll wheel. You can play and pause songs and things but you can't see what you're doing.

If i were you, I'd buy the new nano with four gigs. That way she can buy movies and listen to music and things girls like to do. They're about $150 dollars and have a lot of cool colors.

Headphones and a charger come with the ipod and speakers aren't required at all. Soooo buy the new nano in a cute color like pink or purple.

I personally have an iPod Touch. 16GB, that's just me, loll, lots of songs and movies.

But if she's 7 and won't need much on it, get her a shuffle (no screen, smaller memory) or a nano (preferrably the new one, much cooler, loll).

Those are the 2 I'd recommend for a 7-year-old.

If you wanna go a little cheaper and less features, gor for the shuffle.

I would personally get her the new nano 4th generation. It comes in every colour so your daughter would find that pretty cool and when you shake it, it changes songs. Very cool iPod, I'd go for that one in about 4GB.

Hope I could help! ;]

Get an ipod shuffle

it will be easy for her to use, because there are only play, pause, back and forword buttons. this way, even though there isn't a screen, she can just "shuffle" through songs she likes. the least expensive one is like 75 bucks.

ipod shuffle

it doesnt have a screen though

they are very affordable, and dont hold an amazing amount of songs, which, by your question, is what you want.

you can buy shuffles in many places, including walmart

2nd gen. shuffle..its perfect 4 her..if u think she won't mind not having a screen..but don't get the touch like that other user said..it's a finger print magnet!!.. and it's wayy too nice 4 a small child, its 4 older kids or adults cuz its so easily breakable..my bro haz 1 and they r pretty touchy..its just not a toy...

Ipods are overrated. For children, you might want to consider getting her a Sansa Shaker, it's made especially for children, and it has a speaker built in. To get to the next song, all your daughter would have to do is shake it!

It's also cheaper than an ipod.
