I have used E.M. Free DVD copy recently, I ripped the DVD to ipod easily, the video quality is excellent, and it can lets me rip dvd to other popular formats. such as h264, Xvid, MOV, VOB, Mpeg, Mpeg4, Mpeg TS, AVI, WMV. so, I can play the video on most portable player. you can also copy dvd to hard disc or burn the DVD to another blank dvd disc.
iPod recognizes MP4 format, so you just need a converter that will go from DVD to MP4, and then drag the MP4 files to your iPod with the sync of iTunes Library. Below is the step by step tutorial showing how to put DVD movies, video files and online YouTube video to Apple iPod Nano:

hi, mp4 is a media container which would be encoded with many diverse formats, so iPod classic only helps some particular mp4 video clips. As i understand, the appropriate video format for iPod classic is mp4(avc/h.264 video encoder, aac audio encoder) video clips,so which you ought to apply a real application to transform the failed mp4 video clips to the appropriate suited iPod classic mp4 video clips. i'm utilising RZ Video Converter that may convert any video clips or audios between diverse formats with sturdy high quality, which includes convert failed mp4 video clips to the appropriate suited iPod classic mp4 video clips, etc. then you certainly can pass the switched over mp4 video clips to itunes, and sync to iPod classic. Yahoo or google seek and acquire RZ Video Converter.wish it could assist you to.

the ipod does not use a menu like a DVD does, but it does support the use of chapter markers to skip from scene to scene.
