How do you convert cd files to MP3?

I'm trying to convert music files in my Windows Media Player library to MP3's but I don't have the original cd's. Is there any way to convert them without the cds?

I have some software from creative that will do it, but It came with my mp3 player. So u might find it at their site, creative.com, I am not sure
