Open windows media player and do not connect your sony device to your computer. Click on the sync tab which is far right hand side of windows media player. Once you've clicked on it, does the panel then say connect a device? If so, you're on your way. There should be no reason why it wont recognise the sony product. Try it - and add some further details and I'll check back.

Had the same issue with a phone that was password/pin protected. Exit Windows Media Player on PC, on your phone log in (enter password/pin), now start Windows Media Player. The Sync was now active.

Then visit my computing gadget and open the mp3 participant and drag and drop songs
