I have a major problem with my ipod touch 2g... I have a jailbroken ipod touch 2g on the 3.0 firmware, and I had just begun installing the essentials (i.e. aptbackup, sbsettings, etc) and had gotten to SBSettings, and everything had downloaded, and I pressed "Reload SpringBoard", and lo and behold it is stuck in a neverending respring loop (the circular loading wheel standard for macs and the firefox browser). I can't force quit it, and I have never used a terminal before, let alone for this kind of stuff... I found some threads on how to get it out of the loop and allow me to download it with terminal, but it confused the heck out of me... does anyone know how to put together a "for dummies" version of how to do this?
this is the thread: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204924
thank you so much!!

Don't worry I have had the exact same problem as you. What i did was that i holded the power button and the home button until the ipod turns off and the screen is black, then i turned it back on by using the power button as normal and i saw that sb settings was working great since i slided the top of the status bar and sb settings dropped down, everything seems to be working fine.

Not illegal by federal law, but Apple doesn't really like it. So just don't expect any warranty help if you brick it by accident (or damage it at all). Yes, you can get all the apps free if you want, plus way more. Also, in response to Emily L's rant: You can do so much more than that if you jailbreak. You just need to know where to look (Cydia is a good place to start). And you can modify settings that actually matter, including Wi-Fi and other options, from the homescreen, and you can make the slide-to-unlock screen interactive (as in sync with Calendar, Notes, etc). Also also: Yes, you run the risk of bricking it, but it probably won't happen if you're careful. DO NOT get software/firmware updates from Apple (app updates are OK). Make sure you follow the steps very carefully. If you want to un-jailbreak it, restore it using iTunes.

All of the codes are entered in Winscp or another ssh program i think.
