Does technology exist to download LP's and cassette tapes onto the computer?

I have a lot of Long playing vinyl records and cassette tapes that have music on them. Is there any way I could download them onto my computer or a CD so I can preserve them better

Yes in terms of technology you are simply looking to convert analogue sound into digital, and your PC sound-card can do this for you when combined with some suitable software.
There are free programs which can be downloaded or better still I would recommend an inexpensive program called Magix audio cleaning - I like it because it offers 'one click' noise removal buttons and includes a module for burning to CD which some of the other programs don't.

In many areas there are places that will burn them to a cd for you. than, well you got it rom there.
