How do you sync music into your ipod without deleting the music that's already in there?

Ok so I recently wiped my computer because I had a few viruses. I downloaded a few songs today and was planning on syncing them into my ipod, but then it said that if I sync the music it's going to replace all of the music that's already in my ipod. Which means I'm going to have to re-download everything. Do I have to re-download everything or is there some alternative in which I could just add music instead of replacing all of my songs?

Hi

Don't worry, you don't have to lose all your music! =) Just make sure that you don't do the automatic sync, and when you plug your ipod in and go into itunes there should be a little box on the "Summary" page that you can tick that says "manually manage music" (or something to that effect, it's been a while... but it definitely says "manually manage"). Make sure that box is ticked, so that itunes won't automatically erase all your music when you use it next. Then you don't have to do the actual "sync" but can just add the songs you want to the ones you already have.

Then, to add the new songs that you downloaded, all you have to do is select them in the music library, then drag them across to the lefthand bar where it has "Devices" and "(name)s ipod". Just drag them into there and it will add it to your ipod without deleting any of your existing music =)

Yes. If you directly click sync, it will erase all music on your iPod and replace with the content of this iTunes library.

Here is a solution. All you need is to get all existing music/videos from your iPod back to your computer and iTunes. Simply use this handy transfer program called Tansee iPod Transfer

http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tansee-iPod-Transfer.htm

Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer.

With just a few simple clicks, it will help you copy all videos/songs from iPod back to your selected folder on your computer, and then you can easily add those files back to iTunes.

More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song names are preserved.

In this case, all songs/videos (both new and old) are on your iTunes library that you can syn with whenever you wish to without deleting any files.

Here is step-by-step guide on the whole process:

Best luck!

Look up iPod to iTunesComputer transfer on google and there should be a program of a similar name from AVC, I think. The transfer from iPod only works for music bought from iTunes. If you apply manage music it will erase your songs then sync your new songs and from then on you can manage your own music.
