bitrate is the rate at which bits are transfered

basically in music it has to do with compression... the lower the bitrate the crappier the quality the higher the bit rate the better the quiality

most mp3's online and on limewire are around 128 bitrate

the best is like 256 and that is like cs quality now of course you can go higher but its possible that the sound gets distorted and then its just bad

bitrate is the compression level of hte file. a higher bitrate is better quality. i think 1080 is cd quality. but i personally cant tell the difference between 128 and anything above it. lower than 96 and it sounds tinny
