Itouch 2g or 3g. I am confused.?

Question

I am confused . In the app store there's this itouch 8gb for 199.99 and 32gb (299) and 64 gb (3..)
I was told that the 8 gb one is old and that only 32gb and 64gb are the new ones. Is it true? What differenciates it from the 32 and 64gb (beside storing capacity). What does it lack that the other 2 have.
Is the hardware the same? software?

Theres nothing new technically about the new Ipod Touch 3 Gen, its just a clever marketing scheme

Don't buy an ipod touch, get a Zune HD instead. It basically depends on which generation your talking about 8 gb comes in all gen, so basically what you need to know what gen it is, but i will tell you this again beware they're all based on old hardware. The new gen Ipod touchs didnt get any hardware upgrade and not even a camera. So i Would suggest you should research more about Zune HD. If your a music lover you would not even consider ipods as your option. Also Zune sound quality is much better than ipod touch, its a proven fact, no questions asked, all other brands like cowon, samsung, sony excel in sound quality.Ipods are dead last on sound. And if you want to discover new music than Zune Pass is great, it allows you listen to unlimited songs on your PC and upto 3 Zune Device for $14.99 a month best of all you get to keep 10 songs, its like paying $5 for unlimited music.

Ipods users are just blind followers they have no idea what else is available in the market.Ipod folks need to stop drinking Cool-Aid

3rd gen nis better than 2ng gen and is better than 1srt gen however can you wait till september for the 4th gen. you can run ipod software (Firmware on any ipod so you can update a 1st gen ipod to v3 firmware) that's not the issue its different hardware, the 3rg gen (only 32 or 64GB model) is much faster and has better graphics for gaming. the 4th Gen wont be released until SEPTEMBER 2010 when apple traditionally releases new ipods (and changes are never revolutionary only minor so hardly wotrh months wait). February this year is only likely to see a updated firmware or more memory available on existing spec models. The iPod touch 2nd generation can be distinguished from original iPod touch models by its contoured design and oval shaped antennae cover in the back upper left corner. It also has a volume rocker key on it's side. This can be updated to OS 3.1 by itunes iPod touch third generation gain 3GS specs - roughly 2x faster, with more advanced 3D graphics using OpenGL 2.0 - it also has extra features like Voice Control. You can have the OS 3.1 pre-installed when you buy it. to see the difference between 2nd gen. and 3rd gen.. go into your settings, general and about. if your model code starts with MA its First Gen, MB its second Gen and if its MC you have the 3rd gen. there is NO true 3rd gen. spec 8GB its a starter model and still the 2 gen. spec, but updated to the 3rd gen model code without change from the 2nd gen. only the 32 and 64 GB are in the 3 gen., the 8 and 16GB (if you can get it) are still 2 gen. models.

software is the same, although the 32 and 64GB come with headphones that have a built in microphone, they are the only ones with the voice control app that lets you control what you want to listen to by saying it, like "play songs by...", its definitely an advantage, but other than that, not much is different.
