How can I get my iPod touch to sync with my computer without the software?

Question

My husband was given a used iPod touch for his birthday; WITHOUT THE INSTRUCTIONS OR SOFTWARE. So now we are completely in the dark. When we plug in the USB to the computer, a pop-up window asks if we want to open it using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard or Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I go into My Computer, it only shows Apple iPod camera. I don't know how to use this thing without software or instuctions. Please help me. I'm getting to the point where I want to get rid of it. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

The software is a download and so is the user guide. Virtually no software comes on disc anymore for the same reason that manufacturers don't print manuals anymore; they'd be outdated by the time you got them home. Download iTunes at Apple.com/iTunes/download. Download the user guide at Apple.com/support.

don't worry...basically deploy itunes and connect your ipod to it,itunes will immediately backup the files of your ipod and then u cango ahead with updating your software and the subsequent time u sync your ipod with itunes basically upload each and each and every of the track on your ipod from the itunes library....and ofcourse the apps..
