Not sure if you have access to the original computer you synced your iPod to, but I would just leave it on sync with that one, then just manually manage your music with the fresh install of iTunes.

You don't say if the 'fresh install' is your own computer or what, so I'm not sure how to answer it.

If you don't have access to the original computer you synced from, download a program (there are lots of them out there) that will allow you to copy the media on your iPod onto your computer. That will allow you to start again with the Sync on.

you would have to change the settings on your ipod through the original iTunes library which its synced too, put do not sync and then you could sync it to some other one
