How do you use bluetooth on my Ipod to get internet connection?

I have an ipod touch and my friend has a phone that offers bluetooth how do you get it to work......:)

You don't you can only get the internet via a wifi signal on the ipod touch.

What your friend needs is an internet phone with "hotspot" capability. When he places his phone in hotspot mode other wifi devices can register & connect with that device. (Note: the hotspot feature only works when turned on by the cellular vendor. Typically additional monthly & usage charges apply).
Merely having bluetooth capability on a device is not enough ... wrong connection protocol.

you can do this as i am doing it with my mac and iPod with an iPhone if he can do the hotspot then have him turn that on then it creates a wifi network me i have my macbook connected to a wifi that my iPod cannot reach so i turned on internet sharing on mac and bluetooth on mac and iPod paired and connected devices and iPod has internet now...
notice next to my Custom carrier on my iPod where wifi should be it shows its tethered and bluetooth is on it will show same icon more than likely if you connect to an iPhone hotspot

im not sure you can use bluetooth for an internet connection i've tried but it never works try using wi-fi some phones have the ability to give wi-fi signals

You can only use it by connecting to the WIFI.
