Can u really make phone calls on the ipod touch?

I have heard that if you jail break your ipod touch you can add an app that lets you make phone calls and also send text messages. I always believed that the ipod touch didn't have a mic and that all of the iphone hardwear was different from the ipod touch. So can any one clear this up for me?

Yes you can. But not regular phone calls. You need to use a VOIP program like skype, or Siphon. and to use that, you need WiFi access although it doesn't have a microphone, it is able to make calls via a third party microphone.

Its a myth.

You can only jail break a iPhone or iPod Touch to get free applications like games. Not texts or phone calls on the touch.

Umm...think about this...if you could make a call on the iPod touch why would Apple make and sell the iPhone and why wouldn't everyone just get an iPod touch instead of paying for a phone service provider?

You can through third party apps like Skype 4 iPhone/iPod Touch and SkySMS which does let you send free SMS messages

You can but you have to buy a microphone for the iPod touch. And even then you can only make VoIP calls so you have to be in a wi-fi hotspot. Good luck

I had one but now I have the Iphone. My Itouch was jail broken and no that is just a myth. You can't make a phone call unless you have a plan. Sorry to burst your bubble!

ya i have it. u have to connect a bluetooth headset to it. and the caller ID comes up as 0. i cant beilive some1 figured out how to hack into telephone poles. but ya u can.
