i need to reinstall itunes if i do so will i lose all my purchased music

No. Your music is kept in a folder in My Music (if you haven't changed the source folder). If you DID change the source folder, then you will have to change it for the new version, too.

Absolutely NOT. Your music is stored is in a separate folder. When you re-install you just need to check that your new ITunes can see the MUSIC folder.
See Itunes --> Preferences--> Advanced, and then see the Itunes Media folder.
Search the Web for Mac advice, there is a lot of information on how to do this from a number of Mac forums & related sites.

Sorry if the following might be a touch off question yet I simply simply had to discuss this kind of glorious thing I just established. convinced my dad deleted limewire and itunes off his computing device b/c he idea he's get a plague on his computing device. yet now that I truly have my own computing device, when I set up itunes and limewire up back it says i can both erase my previous songs (500) and positioned new ones, or merely go away the former ones. so that you ought to decide on.
