Ok so basically i have a 30GB first generation ipod video. I recently had to get my computer refreshed because i was doing some upgrades to it. Unfortunately i backed up 90% of my stuff but wasn't sure how i would back up my itunes library. I shrugged it off thinking i can always upload the content again.

NOW looking back i dont want to be bothered to re upload all of that stuff to my itunes. It took forever to upload all my cds and all of that stuff. (im someone who doesn't believe in downloading music so i have always bought hundreds of cds) Is there anything i can do?? Instead of spending days uploading my cds 1 by 1.

Im afraid to plug my ipod into my computer cuz i know the second it sees the empty itunes it will delete everything off my ipod. If it is completely impossible to upload from ipod to itunes then someone needs to talk to apple. I find it hard to believe that, that is impossible. SO please if anyone can help me out i would be so thankful.

Do not pay for all these programs! I had exactly the same problem, had to reboot my computer, lost all my files ect, but someone directed me to a program called 'Sharepod' just google it, it's the same thing as what people told you to get, it extracts all your files from your iPod into your music folder, it even adds everything back onto iTunes for you. Don't download the other sh*t it just extracts like 5 files and ask you to buy the full version, hope this helps.

Plug in the ipod to your pc, go onto my computer and you should find your device there.

You can find and browse through all your files now.

Open up My Documents and either go onto the music folder or create a folder of your own.

Make sure you can see both 'My Computer' and 'My Documents'

Now press CTRL + A to select all your music tracks

Drag them over to the folder you wish to keep them in.

Now it should come up with a box saying 'COPYING %'

Your music is now being copied onto the computer.

Then your done :)

hope this helped

It won't be a problem if you use AVCWare iPod to iPod/Computer/iTunes Transfer.

It automatically transfers your iPod and iPhone music, video, playlist, photos to computer and iTunes. Backup all your music and video in a couple of clicks. Really makes music and videos sharing pretty simple and enjoyable. Wish this can help and good luck.

I think its step by step guide is most helpful.
