basically, the annoying i tunes was always asking me to update my ipod, which when i try to it gives me an error message saying that it couldn't be done. So, I read somewhere that I should just restore my ipod. Stupidly i didn't see the message saying that all my songs will be erased. I restored my ipod and now its BLANK! I've transfered my entire music collection over to the ipod so there's no copy left in my computer's hard drive. Please someone give me a glimmer of hope and tell me I can get them back. I feel like dying......

I'm sorry, there's no way you can possibly get your music back, unless it is still in your computer somewhere, there's no way.

Ok I've had a similar problem before. There is only one remedy to cure you of your nearly fatal illness, and that is the following: First plug in your ipod to your computer. Then open up "My Computer". You should see something (if you have Windows) that says "Devices with removable storage" and under that you should see something that says "(E:)" (known as the E drive). Double click on that. Once you've done so, Go to "Tools" in the upper left hand corner, and select "Folder Options". Then click on the "View" tab. Scroll down until you see "Show hidden files and folders" and click that (it should be like 8th or 9th button down). Then click "Ok." Now going back to where you were before in your E drive, you should now see somehting that says "Ipod_Control". Then find the folder that's labeled "Music" and double click on that. You should see various folders. Double click on those folders and all your music files should be inside. If not, email me and I will try to help you. If they are, you have to copy them to your hard drive. So open up "My computer" and go to your C drive and make a new folder. Now all you have to do is right click each music file (it should be in the form of .mp3) and click copy. Then go to that new folder you made, right click anywhere in the white space, and click paste. Do this for all of your songs. I know it will take a while, but this is the only way to do it.

Idon't be responsive to what to do however the subject is that in case you needs songs from yet another pc (or Mac) you're able to desire to burn a disc with the songs on it and then take it to the laptop which you in lots of circumstances use.

You could try "recuva". I haven't used it, but it's made by the same people that make ccleaner which is excellent. Link below. Good luck.
