Ipod Touch 4th Generation problem.?

I got a 4th gen Ipod touch for Christmas last year. (The one with the camera) It's a 32gig version. Last week we went camping, I had my Ipod in my pocket, took it out to take some pictures, and the screen was black. I had put it in my pocket on lock mode about 10 mins earlier. The Ipod refused to turn on, and didn't do so for about 20 mins. When it finally came on, the battery meter said it was below 20%, and when I had put it in my pocket it had said about 80% or so.

Last night, I was playing a game and checking my email, when it shut off. It didn't close out of the app and do the regular dying-procedure, it just went straight black. When I tried to turn it back on, it said to connect in order to charge, so I did. As soon as I plugged it in to my iHome, it turns on. I wait impatiently for it to turn on, but about halfway through seeing the Apple logo, it shut off again, going straight black. It did this about 20 times before it finally let me put my code in. After I did, it did the same 20% thing, then shut off AGAIN.

Oh, and I'm going to be 16 one Saturday, I take good care of my stuff. I'm not some kid that destroys everything. This iPod is my baby. (I know, it's pathetic right?)

Anyways, my question is: Is there something wrong with my iPod's battery? Should I send it in to Apple to get a brand new battery? Or is there something I did to it without knowing that I could change back and it would be fine again? HELP!!!!!!!

P.S: I do have a SkullCandy case on there 24/7. It is also saying that the temperature is too high, and it needs to cool down, but it's not even warm by touch. Could the case be causing this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Maddenate. =)

I would book an appointment with one of the Apple Geniuses, they would be able to help out a lot more and would probably know what the problem is, they may replace your iPod for free or charge you £126.44 ($149) to replace the iPod, £59 ($79) to replace the battery.

When I accidentally cracked the screen on my iPod Touch 4th Gen 8GB they replaced the iPod for free, as a one off.

wow thats a wierd concern, i havent heard that one in the previous. It relies upon, it could;ve been how plenty water, if it became plenty that mightve been it. i assume you ought to restoration it thoroughly so it acts as a clean ipod. I dont think of ipods can get viruses yet while restoring doesnt paintings take it to an apple save.
