you can download tons of songs on itunes or use your cds. but that's not all you can also download any music file off the internet or your respective program. Like i use MP3 XTREME! So if you want to try it check out www.easymusicdownload.com (YOU GET FREE MUSIC) but there's an annual fee of $21. You can download videos too.

You can also download from Limewire or iMesh for free. Most of the songs you can download there are already in mp3 format so you can easily add it to your Library. As long as you have a song in your computer, it can be transferred to your ipod.
You can also get songs from your CDs and copy it to your iTunes Library. Then just sync your ipod to transfer all your songs from the CD.
You can get a lot of songs from different softwares and stores and not just from iTunes. I think the best one is Limewire because you don't have to spend even a penny for it, everything is compatible to ipod, and there are millions of song choices that you can download!
But if you prefer buying songs in iTunes or other stores that's fine. There are also many songs you can get there. Just if you're interested you can get limewire from limewire.com

Heck no! All you have to do is rip from a cd with itunes, or you can put any mp3 or wav on it also. Wmas need to be converted, or burned to cd and re-ripped as mp3s, wavs, or m4as (aac). That should cover all the bases of getting music onto your ipod.

You can also take your cds and copy the songs you want to your computer and put them in your iPod library
