i recently purchased a compaq presario, which came with itunes standard. it was a brand new computer. i was listening to my music on itunes when i discovered the "shared music" folder which contained "HP_Owner's Music" and "HP_Owner's LimeWire Tunes". these folders are both filled with tons of music. 1569 songs to be exact (both have the same music). this contains 6.39 GB worth of music, which is quite a lot of space. i cant even use the music on my ipod (it wont drag or add to my library) and i cant delete it. the only choices i have when i right click are "copy" and "info". i want to delete some of this music and i want to transfer some of it to my library if possible. has anyone ever found this too? how do i solve this problem? are there any other semi-secret fun files on my computer (hidden games, etc.) possibly? please help if you can, and please no "try google" answers.

You probably got a returned computer from the store, the RIAA is sueing people who get computers/iPods and other digital devices that come with music on them, so I'd delete the files If I where you. Of course in that sitution I'd probably would'nt delete them.

HP does not give away six gigs of music for free, if you want to delete you will have to use the operating system recoery disks that came with your computer, insert them in your CD drive and reboot. Of course you should backup all your data, because you'll be reformating your hard drive.

Wow! thats a new one on me!, I would wounder wether or not the music is really there... it could just be links, or if you are using iTunes, just because something shows up in your iTunes database, doesn't mean it is realy there (for example, if I add a mp3 to iTunes, then use windows, not i Tunes to delete the file itself, iTunes will still believe the song still exists). Try going to "Start menu>search>for files and folders" and type in the file name (or if you can't find the file name, try the song title, or artists name) of one of the mystery songs. Good luck!, hope you hit the jackpot!

If they show up in iTunes, and itunes is running, it may be impossible to delete them while iTunes is running. Press control+alt+delete, click on the processes tab, find iTunes Right click>end process. Then try to delete the files with windows explorer. if it still doesn't work, what message pops up? Are the files mp3? or wma? if not what else?
