Do I need a sound card for my laptop to DJ live?

Question

I am not sure if DJ's just plug their laptops straight into the monitors in clubs. Does my laptop provide enough power? Should I buy a USB soundcard and run it through there? Keep in mind I use a DJ midi controller and DJ software, all digital no vinyl. Does the midi controller have a sound card already in it?
