I just installed ios 4.0.1 and i hate it i want to remove it from my iphone is there anyway to do that.

If you have updated it from a lesser version (e.g. ver 3)

You could try plugging it into you computer and pressing the "restore to factory settings" button.

It will probably erase all your data from your ipod but it might take it back to previous software version.

Easy just get the firmware online the 4.0 that was the last version before 4.0.1 do a shift restore to that firmware you downloaded and your done if you want a better explaination this would help but i can do this so simply because i have experience upgraded by the shift restore and selectedd the downloaded ipsw.

I looked the same question a few days before. when attempting to search the solution I found a way to get a free 4g iphone from iphoneresources.tk! mine is scheduled for delivery in 6 days n i'm so happy!

Get the firmware you want to restore it to, connect it to your computer, in iTunes shift-click the Restore button and locate the firmware you downloaded. You'll have to re-sync everything though, but there's no other method of downgrading.
