I have a 5th generation 30gb Ipod.

I have iTunes 10.0

I was curious ...

Does iTunes automatically write the songs to the Ipod or do I have to 'sync' them each time I add a new group of songs ?

When I sort 'duplicate' files, can I just delete all of those, because duplicates of duplicates show up so I may have up to 3 of the same song ?

What's the easiest way to put one of my Movies on there ? It says Quicktime and Mpeg-4 are fine, whats the best program to convert a movie file to an Ipod format ?

Thanks

1) depends on your settings. If you chose to ""Automatically sync iPod" option under your iPod settings when in iTunes (having connected your device) then, yes the sync will be automatic

2) iTunes duplicate finder is okay as it finds all the duplicates - the problem is what duplicate tracks would you want removed - the exact duplicates or same songs that you have but appear in two separate albums (for ex. compilation albums)? I'd suggest a third party tool to get rid of your iTunes duplicates in a Smarter way. Here is a good discussion thread which talks about this:

3) Use iTunes to convert your video files so you can transfer them (again through iTunes) to your iPod. Simply select the video track listed in your iTunes library, right-click and choose Advanced>Create iPod or iPhone version.

That's it!

1.) Yes, iTunes will automatically sync all your music, apps and movies to your iPod unless told otherwise. I find it annoying, so I've checked the "Manually sync music" box on the "Summery" screen when you plug your iPod into your computer. It means everytime you add something to your iPod, you have to make sure it actually got there - this way, I can get music from my friends, instead of wiping my iPod - but it can always be checked/unchecked later.

2.) Yes, you can delete all the duplicates. Just make sure you don't delete one of them - otherwise, you won't have the song in your library.

3.) If your movie file is on Youtube, this site is the best: (( http://flv2mp3.com/ )) . Just make sure you click the "Convert to Other Format" button under the URL entry. And sometimes, the adds under that bar will say "Continue"... only click the "Next" button, in the bottom right of the box.

If you have an actual video, you need a special set of equipment for that (( http://www.leawo.com/dvd-to-mp4-converter/ )) .

Hope this helps!
