My 5th generation ipod nano is 4-5 weeks old and has been working great. While I was in the car today and went to change the song, the buttons were non-responsive, no matter what buttons I pressed or held down, nor did it light up at all. After the end of that song, it had probably reached the end of my playlist so it stopped playing music. I just ignored it since I was driving, later arrived at work, and tucked it in a pocket in my purse.
I work in an air conditioned environment, and have always made sure to never leave my ipod in sunlight or in my car at any times, unless I'm pumping gas, or something else quick. Also, I've had the air conditioner on constantly while I drive since the humidity has been brutal lately in my area.
Anyway, after work a few hours later, I tried turning it on in my car and since it's non-responsive malfunction earlier, I've been trying every trick in the book to turn it on. I've tried flipping the hold switch back and forth, doing that while holding down the 'menu' button, doing both while also holding down the select/center button, and so on. My boyfriend also recommended shaking it or slapping it against my palm in case of a battery issue.
iTunes doesn't recognize that my ipod is connected to the computer by its USB cable. I've also tried to reformat my ipod under My Computer, which shows my ipod as connected, but if I double click or right click my ipod device, My Computer freezes and I have to end the program.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my situation, but earlier today, I tried syncing music to my ipod and itunes kept showing me an error box after a moment, saying that it doesn't recognize that my ipod is connected, even though "Becky's ipod" is in the left column.
I know my question/story is lengthy but I want to make sure I add as much detail as possible in case anyone has a new strategy that I haven't tried. I appreciate any suggestions & thanks for your time.
