Is it bad to disconnect headphones from an iPod without pausing the music?

I have heard from a few people that disconnecting your iPod while it is playing is bad. How true is this, and if it is true, what are the effects? The iPod does automatically pause when disconnected, so it seems to me that apple intended for people to be able to dsconnect it with no problem, yet some people seem to think othewise.

that happend once but nothing bad happen to my iPod. Yes it does pause automatically and no it's not bad

nothing bad happen to da iPod cuz i do it all da time cus it always get caught on somethin and it disconnet the headphones it always happen to me but it not bad.

cus i droped it once and it was totally destoryed not the outside but i could only play one song and it wouldnt charge so pls dont drop ur ipods

i do that all the time.. i listen to my iphone at work and when i get a call i just yank the phone/cord out and answer my phone.. so far nothing has happened..
