When you listen to music on a pair of Sennheiser earphones you really realise that the Apple ones a bad quality.

With the high quality of other Apple products you really would think they would put better quality earphones with their products.

Two reasons. The number one being cost. They sell millions of phones and ipods, if they make the ear buds just a little better and they cast a dollar or two, multiply that by how many devices they sell in just one year, that's millions of dollars. The second reason is that a lot of people already own good buds or headphones and will simply toss these in a drawer someplace. That why for example entry level dSLR cameras come with a lens, but pro dSLRs are usually sold with no lens, pros already own the glass they need.

Because they aren't selling your headphones, they are selling you the product. If they put a quality set of headphones in every box, they'd have to increase the price.

Cost is the only factor in that decision.

And Sennheiser is crap compared to Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, and Grado.
